Vote | Grunewaldt Blend - Brazil
Producers: Vanilto & Geraldo Grunewaldt
Region: Espirito Santo, Brazil
Varieties: Red & Yellow Catuia
Processing: Pulped Natural
Tasting Notes: Dried Apricot, Cashew, Milk Chocolate, Vanilla
This lot is produced by two brothers, Vanilto and Geraldo Grunewaldt in the coastal and mountainous region of Espirito Santo, just north of Rio de Janeiro. Coffee is grown here at higher altitudes than in most of Brazil which is one of the reasons why Espirito Santo’s coffees are so remarkable.
We chose this coffee not because it reminded us of the most beautiful part of Berlin, but because it has lovely ripe fruit flavours, alongside the nutty, chocolate notes that we usually associate with coffees from Brazil. We think that the Grunewaldt brothers’ lot is the perfect “gateway coffee” for people who want to try something new. For coffee aficionados, this is a coffee that you can drink cup after cup of, or throw it in the hopper to make a flat white that tastes like ripe apricot and vanilla-cream.
